IT & Customs Liaison Cargo

    • Brussels Airport, Belgium

Job description

IT & Customs Liaison Cargo is a versatile hands-on role that works on IT at Cargo and monitors all customs-related aspects for the cargo activity. The IT & Customs Liaison (Cargo) is the local IT & Customs contact point for the Cargo employees at the Belgian airports where Aviapartner is active.

In this role, you manage the IT infrastructure of the Cargo department and the settings.

Aviapartner works with an external IT partner to whom we outsource support for all systems.

The job focus of the IT & Customs Liaison is therefore not on IT technical aspects, but rather on communication in relation to the IT Helpdesk operation; helping users by promptly involving the helpdesk.

You assist users (without becoming the helpdesk yourself). You replace computers when necessary.

You can evaluate the network setup and install a switch, but its configuration is done by an external partner. You know which cable goes into which outlet, but you do not manage the IT systems yourself. You participate in cluster meetings with various stakeholders to be able to respond to changing customs regulations and immediately translate them into practical use required for the cargo stations. The first questions from management about new applications come to you.

The role is entirely focused on IT & Customs of the Cargo business. This means that you will familiarize yourself with what Cargo specifically does at the airports, how IT and/or digitalization fit into that, what is typical, and what the specificities are. Based on that knowledge, you will be able to identify problems and ideally already provide solutions.

The IT & Customs Liaison must familiarize themselves with the cargo processes and the specific applications used by the Cargo employees, and you will become a Super User of those applications.

You will determine the business needs to then push through decisions (priorities, change requests, etc.), train and support end-users in the correct use of the application, manage access rights, test developments, manage configuration and parameterization.

The IT & Customs Liaison reports hierarchically to the Managing Director Cargo, with dotted line reporting to the Cargo Managers of Aviapartner at the airports of Brussels, Liège, and Ostend.
